Dark Sky can tell you at a glance exactly when it will rain (or snow) up to an hour in advance, so you’re free to walk the dog or run out to lunch and know you’ll stay dry. You can also explore the most beautiful weather animation you’ve ever seen, both forward in time or back. (Dark Sky is available in the US, UK and Ireland.) YOUR WEATHER, DOWN TO THE MINUTE Using GPS, Dark Sky is able to create forecasts for your precise location, giving you minute-by-minute predictions for the next hour and hour-by-hour forecasts for the next day and week. BEAUTIFUL WEATHER ANIMATIONS The same technology that powers Dark Sky’s predictions also allows us to make the world’s first perfectly smooth radar animation. Other apps show you a chunky slideshow that makes it nearly impossible to tell how storms are moving. But Dark Sky’s radar animation lets you see the actual path of the storm: how it moved in the past, and where it’s going in the future. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS Dark Sky comes with advanced notification options: Receive down-to-the-minute alerts before it starts raining at your exact location, get notified of government severe weather alerts (for such things as thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, etc), or even create your own custom notifications covering the next 24 hours for things like temperature, wind, precipitation and more. Even if you haven't opened the app in days, Dark Sky will tell you what you need to know, when you need to know it. TODAY WIDGET The Dark Sky Notification Center Widget tells you at a glance what's going to happen in the next hour and the next week, so you don't even have to unlock your phone to quickly check the weather before heading out. APPLE WATCH Dark Sky looks great on your wrist. Get notifications and check out the weather for the next week with the Dark Sky app built from scratch for Apple Watch.

  • Not too accurate

    By Denny Degit
This App is ok. Not that accurate for my location. It probably is very dependent on the position of the weather station it is using for it's data. In other words it will say that it will be raining in 5 minutes and stop in 20. That will be true for downtown Santa Fe. But my location is 7 miles from downtown and there is no rain, just overcast sky’s. Being that downtown is 7 miles closer to the mountains this makes a huge difference. This App would be more effective if it used a different weather station that was not downtown and thus being effected by the close proximity to the southern terminus of the Rockies.

Best weather App. Bar none. It is most accurate with real-time notifications. I do wish there was a 10 day forecast overview ... or am I missing it ? Still the best weather app ever.

I’ve tried many weather apps. Dark Sky is great. It’s been very accurate for the San Francisco micro climates.
  • Temperature faulty

    By G-Cloony
Cloudy and rain over the past 45-60 minutes, and temperature hasn’t changed—95°F. My porch thermometer reads 73, which is correct. What’s the problem? Temperature hasn’t been close yet. Always shows 10°F higher—or worse—when front passes through. Rain predictions bad too. Free apps are better.
  • Disappointed

The weather map has issues updating when you are out and about away from Wi-Fi. I use Verizon I have a very good signal but the app still has issues updating the weather map.
  • Not worth paying for

Although the notifications work well, the map does not do a good job in showing future weather. In addition, there are large black squares that show up, obliterating views of cloud cover, and when the map opens, it shows the entire earth instead of my location, which, when I zoom in, has a black square over it. Other free weather apps are much better than this one.

I enjoy following the weather. After careful consideration, I ended up paying $4.00 for Darksky. Yeah well, pretty disappointed! The app does not function anything like darksky.com. Features are missing, can’t switch from 2D to 3D, and I have black squares all over the map blocking the views. I would like my $4.00 back! Sounds cheap of me but I did not get what I paid for! Hopefully the developers can make corrections!
  • Still does not work on Apple Watch

    By TG104
Despite attempts for a year with varying Watch faces, different settings for the GPS setting changes back and forth from “while using” to “always”, and reinstalls, the app still does not function properly on the Apple Watch. The complication will not update temperature or provide precipitation forecasts. Manually clicking on it to open the app slowly provides information but still does not update the complication. Sad since this is an app I paid money for and wanted to like. I have tried it on my Nike S3 as well as my older S2 with the same results.
  • Simple, fast, and clean

Great UI design. Very fast loads. Would love to see dew point available in the app.
  • Bizarre radar view

When you try to zoom in to your area, any space you touch on the screen turns black and any map detail is lost. You can’t tell where any storm is located. You might as well be viewing sandstorms on Mars.
